Terms of Service

Karaokeo turns a TV and a few phones into a karaoke night. These terms are the agreement between you and Karaokeo for using it. By starting a party or joining one, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Karaokeo.

1. What this is

You name a party and get a room with a join code. Anyone with that code can request songs from their phone, vote on performances, and send reactions to the screen. Videos play through YouTube's embedded player. Karaokeo does not host, store, or provide any music or video files of its own.

2. No accounts, and what that means for you

There is nothing to sign up for. Whoever holds a party's key can run it, and that key lives in the browser that started the party. This is a deliberate trade: no password to forget, but also no way for us to prove a party is yours.

So please understand:

• Anyone you give the host link to can run your party, and we cannot tell them apart from you.
• If you clear your browser data or switch devices without saving the host link, the party becomes unreachable — to you and to us alike.
• We cannot recover a lost party, restore a deleted one, or tell you what a party contained.

3. Parties do not last

A party that nobody has touched for a few hours is closed automatically, and closed parties are deleted within a few days — along with their queue, votes, messages, and guest names. Nothing here is built to be kept. If you want a record of the night, take a screenshot before you leave.

4. YouTube

Karaokeo uses YouTube API Services to search for videos and play them. By using Karaokeo you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and your use of YouTube through this service is subject to the Google Privacy Policy. Videos may become unavailable, region-locked, or blocked from embedded playback by their owners at any time, and that is outside our control. Any data from the YouTube API is discarded when the party holding it is deleted.

5. Fair use of the service

Please do not:

• Use this for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone.
• Put hateful, abusive, or sexually explicit content on a party screen — including in display names and messages.
• Break into, overload, scrape, or otherwise interfere with the service or anyone else's party.
• Create parties in bulk, or automate anything that would spoil the night for everyone else.
• Use this for a public performance or commercial event without the music licenses your venue needs.

This is built for private gatherings. If you are running karaoke at a bar, restaurant, or other public venue, getting the right performance licenses is your responsibility.

6. What guests see

The name a guest types when they join is shown to everyone else in that party, and appears on the big screen next to their requests, votes, and messages. Guests should pick a name they are happy for the room to see. We ask for nothing else.

7. Copyright

This service links to videos hosted by YouTube and does not copy or distribute them. If you believe something reachable through it infringes your copyright, contact us at the address below and we will act on it. Claims about a video itself are best sent to YouTube, which hosts it.

8. Availability

This is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it running, but we cannot promise it will be available without interruption or free of errors, and features may change or be removed. Parties depend on your network, your screen, and YouTube — any of which can have a bad night.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, lost parties, or lost revenue arising from your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

10. Ending things

You can end your party at any time from the stage, and it will be deleted with everything in it soon after. We may close a party that breaks these terms or puts the service or its users at risk, and we may block an address that abuses it.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service grows. The date at the top always says when they last changed, and continuing to use it after an update means you accept the new version.
