Privacy Policy

Karaokeo has no accounts, no profiles, and no interest in who you are. This page explains what little it does handle, why, and how quickly it disappears. The short version: everything lives and dies with the party.

1. What we collect

A party holds only what the room puts into it:

• The party name the host typed, and the join code we made for it.
• The display names guests and singers type — whatever you choose to be called that night.
• The songs requested (title, artist, and YouTube details of each video), the star votes on performances, the messages sent to the screen, and the reactions fired at it.
• The network address that started a party, kept so one address cannot flood the service with rooms.

We never ask for an email address, a phone number, a real name, a password, or payment details — there is nowhere to even type them. Votes are tied to a random token in your browser, not to you.

2. What stays in your browser

Only essential cookies, and they work for you, not on you:

• A session cookie that keeps you in the party for the evening.
• An encrypted cookie holding the keys to parties this browser started or joined, kept for about a year so a host is not locked out of their own recurring karaoke night. Those keys are the whole login — clear them and the party no longer answers to you.

There are no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, and no analytics scripts. YouTube sets its own cookies when a video plays through its embedded player — that part is theirs, not ours.

3. How long anything is kept

A party nobody has touched for a few hours is closed automatically, and closed parties are deleted within a few days — the queue, the votes, the messages, and every name typed that night go with them. Ending a party yourself starts the same clock. Copies in our routine backups fade out within about a week after that. Nothing is archived, and there is no history to look back on.

4. Song search

When you search for a song, the words you typed are sent to YouTube from our server to find matching videos — the request carries the search text, not who typed it. We also keep our own list of public karaoke videos (titles, artists, durations) so most searches never leave the building; that list describes videos, not people.

5. The services we stand on

• YouTube plays the videos and answers searches. Your use of it through Karaokeo is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare sits in front of the service to keep it fast and to keep bots out. Starting a party runs its Turnstile check, which looks at connection and browser signals to tell people from scripts — see the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
• The service is hosted in the United States, so a party's data is processed and stored there while it exists.

We do not sell anything about you, share it for advertising, or hand it to anyone beyond the services above doing the jobs just described.

6. What the room sees

A party is a shared screen. The name you join with appears next to your requests, votes, and messages, visible to everyone in that party while it lasts. Pick a name you are happy for the room to see.

7. Your choices

• End your party from the stage and everything in it is deleted soon after — that is the delete button.
• Walk away, and the automatic cleanup does the same within days.
• Clear your browser's cookies for this site and nothing here can recognize that browser again.

Because there are no accounts, we usually cannot connect a request to a party — a party answers only to its key. If you have a question or a concern anyway, write to us and we will do what we honestly can.

8. Children

This is a general-audience service that asks for nothing but a display name. It is not directed at children, and we knowingly collect nothing from anyone beyond what this page describes.

9. Changes to this policy

If the service changes in a way that touches privacy, this page changes with it, and the date at the top says when. We will not quietly start collecting more than a karaoke night needs.
